Dragon Age Origins can be a a fairly difficult game, especially when encountering mages and other magic wielders. Fortunately, if you have a mage in your own party (which is likely), you can dispatch these serious threats with relative ease. Make sure at least one of your mages has the spell Mana Clash.

Mana Clash is an area spell which uses its target’s mana to inflict spirit damage, leaving the spellcaster without mana and almost dead (if he or she some how survives).

Using Mana Clash with Spell Might, a sustained ability which amplifies spell, makes any enemy mage a walking mana bomb.
